Reality or just an illusion ?

You think you know a person fairly well and start sharing a part of your life with them, be it time, thoughts or personal feelings. You call it friendship and tend to enjoy it. But, when the truth comes out that the other person dint actually reciprocate the relationship in the same way and instead had so much kept hidden from you, that feeling is unexplainable. That beautiful bond which you once shared seems to break and only a sense of awkwardness remains. It makes you wonder about all possible reasons for such an imbalance in your relationship. Is it maintaining privacy or having secrecy?

Now that brings me to the difference between privacy and secrecy. As i see it, privacy is something which is maintained by people to keep their life's stories hidden from those who are not very close to them. So may be the friendship i thought was there, was just an illusion. And secrecy is something, people keep from everybody, even the closest of friends. Now that brings me to ponder the reasons for such secrecy. Is it because they think they are at fault and so can't dare to share it with anyone. Or is it due to some harsh reality?
